  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (light)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Sauté the diced onion and green bell pepper in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add ground beef. Cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally add hot sauce or smoked paprika for extra flavor.
  5. Toast hamburger buns until golden brown.
  6. Assemble by piling the sloppy joe mixture onto the toasted buns and serve immediately.
